Dollar Joins Market Fall
The dollar kept pace with the sliding stock and bond markets Monday as the continued stalemate over the U.S. budget made currency traders nervous.
Drops in the U.S. bond and stock markets kept investors away from the dollar as government workers went home during a partial shutdown while the budget squabble continued between Congressional Republicans and the president.
The dollar’s weakness against European currencies helped bring it lower against the Japanese yen.
