Mckey Signs 5-Year Deal

With one season left on his contract, Derrick McKey has opted not to become a free agent and signed a five-year, $24 million extension with the Indiana Pacers.

“Why not?” McKey said. “It’s a bird in hand.”

McKey will earn $2.8 million this season and $3 million next season.

Scottie Pippen, who led the Chicago Bulls to a 3-0 record and averaged 29.7 points and 9.7 rebounds last week, has been selected NBA Player of the Week.

The Miami Heat placed rookie guard Sasha Danilovic on the injured list with a sprained right wrist and activated center Stacey King.
