Alpine skiing
Mount Spokane and Bluewood are not open and are desperately hoping Santa will brings big bags of snow.
Silver Mountain has 18 runs open. Snow-making will allow it to open chair 5. Early season conditions exist, especially in heavily traveled areas. Info: (800) 204-6428.
Schweitzer has three lifts open with a 46-inch base of hard-packed, early season snow. Reduced lift tickets through the weekend. Info: (800)831-8810.
49 Degrees North reports very good conditions and will open chair 4 today.
Mission Ridge reports minimal snow and two lifts in operation.
Nordic skiing
Mount Spokane received about 6 inches of snow, allowing employees to start packing the Inner trails around Shadow. Beware of bare spots. Updates: 238-4025.
The trails at Schweitzer are groomed and reportedly in good condition.
No new snow was reported in the Methow Valley, but conditions are excellent on the Sun Mountain, Mazama, Methow and Rendevous trails. The Winthrop trail to Sun Mountain was packed but not groomed. Info: (800) 682-5787.
Snowmobiling
Groomers in the Methow Valley were busy this week and report excellent conditions in all areas. All trails in the Conconully area were groomed, including Kerr Camp, Peacock Meadows, Boulder Creek and the north summit of Loop Loop. The 8-mile Snopark to Sweetgrass Loop, Twisp from Buttermilk and Yellowjacket to Goat Peak are in excellent condition. Snowline: 422-7324.
