Another Exclamation Point For U.S. Culture
That famous tongue-tying slogan from McDonald’s is back, but with a ‘90s twist.
McDonald’s new commercials feature a group of rappers, singing nuns and the NBA’s Charles Barkley, trying to say “Two all beef patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles, onions, on a sesame seed bun” in four seconds.
When McDonald’s dreamt up the catchy description of the Big Mac in 1975, its commercials featured restaurant customers trying to spit out the saying.
The latest ads are part of a new value meal campaign.
“People instantly associate the jingle with McDonald’s in a fun and nostalgic way,” said David Green, McDonald’s vice president of marketing. “We think it will be as popular in 1995 as it was in 1975.”
