Sen. Murray’s Family Returns To State
Three years of living in the nation’s capital is apparently enough for U.S. Sen. Patty Murray’s family.
Murray, D-Wash., will stay in Washington, D.C., but her husband and two children are headed back to the other Washington.
“I think the kids would say this has been a fantastic experience,” Murray said Wednesday. “But what they really want to be is home. That is Washington state.”
Murray’s husband, Rob, has taken a computing job with his former employer of 15 years, Stevedoring Services of America. He had left the company in January 1993 to be with Murray, but never found work in the nation’s capital.
Son Randy, who recently turned 19, is headed to Port Townsend to study at the Northwest School of Wooden Boatbuilding.
Murray’s daughter, Sara, will return to Seattle in June after she completes her sophomore year in high school. She plans to rejoin friends at Shorewood High School in the Shoreline school district for her junior year.
After her family leaves, Murray says she’ll rent an apartment close to the Capitol.
She said her family’s relocation doesn’t change her plans to seek re-election in 1998. She said she simply will have to restructure her schedule so she can visit Washington state more often.
