Strong Finish Helps Mead Defeat Lc

Lake City faced a different Mead team in the second half of Friday’s game.

Mead (4-3), which allowed 21 points in the first quarter, clamped down after halftime and beat the visiting Timberwolves 58-48 in a boys non-league game. Lake City (4-3) scored just four points in the fourth quarter.

Adam Morris put Mead ahead for good with a driving layup in the third quarter. Damian Long led the Panthers with 22 points and 11 rebounds. John Chatfield had three 3-pointers and 21 points for the Timberwolves.

EV took the lead for good when Don Snyder made three consecutive baskets midway through the second quarter. Lakeland’s 6-foot-7 Doug Freed scored 15.
