Bigoted Words Are A Waste Letter Of The Week: From Dec. 11
Do you ever wonder what makes people so prejudiced? Are they that miserable with their own lives that they mess with other lives?
One recent day in Reardan a conversation was overheard from a table filled with farmers. They were gabbing, making fun of Indians, saying how stupid they are. Well, we are not stupid. The only ones who show they are, are the ones who sit around with nothing to do but complain and talk about the Indians - while there were three Indians at a nearby table.
This has happened more than once in the same area. People have been in fights over this.
This goes way back. We can talk about who stole what from whom, but what good does it do?
It is too sad if some people have so much hate inside themselves. It’s energy gone to waste. There is too much violence already going on without having to add to it.
We are people. To me, color does not matter. The heart is the same color, we all pump the same color of blood. My God, there’s so much more in this world to think about, to worry about, and to get accomplished.
I was taught this saying when I was young: “If you have nothing good to say, say nothing at all.” Especially in a public area.
Have a heart. Be happy with what we’ve got. Life is short. We are all neighbors, no matter what race. Pass your smile around. You’ll be surprised at the results. Sherry Stearns Wellpinit, Wash.
