Police Seize Crack After Traffic Stop

From Staff And Wire Reports

Spokane police seized 170 grams of crack cocaine and thousands of dollars in cash after making a North Side traffic stop late Friday night.

Two men and a teenage girl, all from Southern California, were arrested for possession of cocaine with intent to deliver.

An officer stopped a car at Division and North River Drive about 11:40 p.m. Driver Ivy Lee Henry, 23, of Highland, Calif., was driving with an expired license, no registration and no proof of insurance, police said.

A passenger first gave police a fake name and said he was 14. His real name is Trevin D. Elam, of Highland, Calif., and he’s 27, police said.

The 15-year-old girl in the back seat is from San Bernardino, Calif.

The cocaine was found in the car, mostly in tiny baggies, police said. Nearly $1,300 in cash was hidden in the suspects’ clothing. Marijuana and open beer containers were also found, police said.

The three had been staying at Al’s Motel, 1421 N. Division, said police, who obtained a search warrant for the room.

The 23-year-old man in the room was not arrested. He first denied knowing the other men, but then said they all had the same address in Highland, Calif., police said.

In the room, police found another $4,000 - rolled and concealed in clothing.

Henry and Elam were being held in Spokane County Jail Sunday night. Each man’s bail was set at $50,000.
