Ex-Browns Star Critically Wounded In Domestic Fight
The wife of former Cleveland Browns defensive tackle Bob Gain was charged Tuesday with shooting him during an argument.
Gain, 66, remained in critical condition at MetroHealth Medical Center, spokeswoman Sue Kalas said. Gain was wounded in the chest Friday at his suburban Cleveland home.
His wife, Mary Gain, 66, was charged with felonious assault, Timberlake Police Chief William Hammond said. She waived a preliminary court hearing, meaning the case will go directly to a Lake County grand jury.
Gain played 12 years for the Browns and was selected for five Pro Bowls before retiring in 1964. He won the Outland Trophy at the University of Kentucky in 1950 as the top lineman in college football.
