Renton Woman Dies After Apartment Fire

From Staff And Wire Reports

A 31-year-old Renton woman died Wednesday, three days after being severely burned in an apartment fire that took the life of her young daughter.

Cynthia Croon, who suffered third-degree burns over one-third of her body, died at Harborview Medical Center, hospital spokesman Larry Zalin said.

Croon’s daughter - 3-year-old Shanekqu - died in Sunday’s fire that also destroyed 13 apartments in a Renton complex.

Two other children, boys 5 and 11, escaped without injury, fire officials said.

Firefighters said the blaze apparently was started by the two boys, who were playing with a lighter around the family Christmas tree.
