Dollar Turns Mixed In Thin Trading
The dollar closed mixed against leading currencies Thursday in thin trading as most participants had already closed their books for the year and weren’t eager to take any new positions.
There was little news or hints of the market’s technical momentum to influence traders, but in London a lateday flurry of British pound sales helped push the dollar up against the pound and German mark.
In late New York trading, the dollar was quoted at 1.4380 German marks, up from 1.4335 on Wednesday. The dollar lost ground against the Japanese yen, trading late Thursday at 102.67 yen vs. 102.84 on Wednesday.
A pound bought $1.5460 in New York, down from $1.5594 on Wednesday.
