Snow Sport Report

Compiled By Rich Landers

Alpine skiing

The region’s snow has stayed north of the border. Whitewater has 81 inches at the top of groomed runs; Red Mountain, 61 inches. But even those resorts joined others on their knees last night, praying that forecasts for new snow would come true today.

Silver Mountain, Lookout Pass and 49 Degrees North are open. Snow layer is thin but skiable.

Silver Mountain has snowmakers blowing. Snow level at summit: 38 inches.

Schweitzer has 24 inches on top with plenty of skiing and reduced prices on lift tickets.

Nordic skiing

Mount Spokane trails skiable, but Thursday was the 15th consecutive day with no new snow.

Schweitzer groomed Nordic trails Tuesday and cleared numerous blowdowns to reopen trails.

Best Nordic skiing is north of border. Snow depth at Salmo-Creston Pass: 56 inches.

Snowmobiling

Go high. That’s where the snow is.
