Lights Cause Fire That Kills 1, Injures 32
A fire caused by Christmas lights spread smoke through the ventilation system of a 20-story building Friday, killing at least one person and injuring 32 others.
One woman burned to death in the fifth-floor apartment where the fire began, said Peter Micheli, assistant fire chief. A man on the 15th floor died of a heart attack, but authorities don’t know if it was directly related to the fire.
All of the injuries were caused by smoke inhalation.
