Waldholtz Says He’s Still Devoted To Wife
Rep. Enid Greene Waldholtz’s husband says he’s still devoted to his estranged wife, even though she blames him for the financial mess surrounding her 1994 campaign.
“Love doesn’t turn off,” Joe Waldholtz told KUER Friday. “We’re each going through a very difficult time. We have a child, we have responsibilities. Our lives are tied together.”
Waldholtz has accused her husband of forging checks, embezzling campaign money, stealing millions from her father and funneling $1.8 million of apparently illegal contributions into her campaign.
The 37-year-old Republican has filed for divorce and custody of their 4-month-old daughter.
Joe Waldholtz, 32, spoke mainly of personal matters during the interview, saying he would have done anything his wife wanted, even converting to her Mormon faith. Waldholtz, who was raised Jewish, had told his wife he was Episcopalian.
“I can say I love Enid with all my heart and I have from the very first moment I met her,” he said.
