Donald O’Reilly Bovill, Idaho

Graveside service for Donald E. O’Reilly, 68, is planned for 10 a.m. Saturday at the Greenwood Cemetery in Palouse, Wash. Kramer Funeral Home in Palouse is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. O’Reilly died Tuesday from complications of abdominal surgery.

He was born in Potlatch, Idaho, where he graduated from high school. He served in the Army during World War II, then worked at the Potlatch Forests Inc. mill from 1947 to 1972.

Mr. O’Reilly attended Spokane Community College for two years studying heavy equipment repair, then started working for the Latah County highway district. He retired in 1987.

He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Potlatch.

Survivors include three brothers, Jack O’Reilly of Bovill, Dick O’Reilly of Princeton, Idaho, and Patrick O’Reilly of Columbus, Ohio; two sisters, Kay Schneider of Chattaroy and Marjorie Verstegen of Milwaukee, Wis.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial gifts may be made to the Deary Ambulance Fund at Deary, Idaho.

William Schulz Loon Lake, Wash.

Service for William V. “Bill” Schulz, 45, will be at 2 p.m. today at Ball and Dodd Funeral Home North followed by burial at Fairmount Memorial Park.

Mr. Schulz died Tuesday. He was born in Spokane and graduated from Rogers High School.

He worked for Burlington Northern Railroad and Western Fruit Express. He retired in 1981 due to a disability.

Mr. Schulz moved to Loon Lake 15 years ago and was a member of Loon Lake Assembly of God.

Survivors include a son, Patrick Schulz of Spokane; a daughter, Deandra Schmidt of Moclips, Wash.; his parents, Meryl and Mary Schulz of Spokane; and a brother, Frank Schulz of Spokane.

Erika Birnbaums Spokane

Service for Erika (Cielava) Birnbaums, 92, is scheduled for 1 p.m. today at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church followed by burial at Fairmount Memorial Park. Ball and Dodd Funeral Home South is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Birnbaums, who died Monday of pneumonia, was born in Latvia.

She and her husband moved to Spokane in 1950 and she worked at The Crescent.

Mrs. Birnbaums graduated from Whitworth College where she taught German language and literature. She also taught at St. George’s Episcopal School and Gonzaga University.

Her husband, Karlis Peteris Birnbaums, died in 1963.

Survivors include a son, Andrejs Birnbaums of Bellevue, Wash.; a daughter, Anita Dagmara Roark of San Diego; a brother, Paulis Cielavs of Latvia; and four grandchildren.

Memorial gifts may be made to St. Mark’s Lutheran Church; the West Coast Latvian Education Center, Shelton, WA 98584; or Whitworth College.

Elmer Satchwell Post Falls

Service for Elmer A. Satchwell, 68, is planned for 11 a.m. Saturday at the Post Falls Community Presbyterian Church followed by burial at Coeur d’Alene Memorial Gardens. Yates Funeral Home in Coeur d’Alene is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Satchwell, a Korean War veteran, died Wednesday. Born in Rathdrum, he farmed on Rathdrum Prairie most of his life.

He was involved in numerous business and community groups, including the Intermountain Grass Growers Association and the Post Falls Lions. He also was a Post Falls School Board chairman for 12 years and was an elder of the Post Falls Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Vonnie; four daughters, Cindy Satchwell of St. Regis, Mont., and Wanda McLean, Jannice Turk and Michelle Douglass, all of Post Falls; a sister, Eileen McNett of Oregon; and six grandchildren.

Memorial gifts may be made to the Post Falls Community Presbyterian Church Building Fund.

Alice Hunt Spokane

Graveside service for Alice V. Hunt, 80, is planned for 3 p.m. today at Greenwood Memorial Terrace. Ball and Dodd Funeral Home South is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Hunt died Tuesday. Born in Seattle, she moved to the Spokane area 75 years ago.

She attended Marycliff High School and then worked at Galena Army Air Depot during World War II. She then worked for Sacred Heart Medical Center.

She was on the council of North American Indian Affairs and was a member of St. Anne’s Catholic Church.

Her husband, Frank Hunt, died in 1989. Survivors include four daughters, Peggy Thompson and Jean Oster, both of Spokane, Barbara Beggs of Highland, Calif., and Beverly Crawford of Moreno Valley, Calif.; 20 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and four great-great- grandchildren.

Herb Brinson Spokane

Family graveside service for Herb Brinson, 78, will be at Greenwood Memorial Terrace. Memorial service is planned for 2 p.m. Saturday at First Presbyterian Church. Ball and Dodd Funeral Home South is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Brinson died Wednesday. Born in Seattle, he moved to Spokane in 1949.

He bought a Chevron station at Market and Wellesley in 1949 and retired 30 years later.

Mr. Brinson was a member of First Presbyterian Church and the Masonic York Lodge.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Irene Brinson; three sons, Terry Brinson of Orland, Calif., Dan Brinson of Port Angeles, Wash., and Tim Brinson of Spokane; a daughter, Beverly Jo Filzen of Valleyford; a sister, Bernice Murray of Spokane; and nine grandchildren.

Claude Murphy Spokane

Service for Claude M. Murphy, 91, is planned for 11 a.m. Saturday at Riplinger Funeral Home. Private burial will be at the Elk Cemetery.

Mr. Murphy died Tuesday. Born in Akley, Minn., he moved to Spokane 87 years ago.

He was a cattle rancher most of his life and was a member of the Camden Grange and the Eagles Aerie.

Survivors include one nephew.

Geraldine Fullmer Spokane

Service for Geraldine “Gerry” Fullmer, 78, is planned for 11 a.m. Saturday at Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home. Private burial will be at Greenwood Memorial Terrace.

Mrs. Fullmer died Wednesday. Born in Colfax, Wash., she moved to Spokane in 1945. She worked as a secretary for the American Red Cross from 1953 to 1978.

Her husband, Frank G. Fullmer Sr., died in 1994. Survivors include two sons, Frank Fullmer Jr. of the Spokane Valley and Ray Lewis Fullmer of Rathdrum, Idaho; a sister, Willene Leonetti of Spokane; three grandchildren and four greatgrandchildren.

Quinton Brown Greenacres

Graveside service for Quinton M. Brown, 69, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Oakesdale (Wash.) Cemetery. Thornhill Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Brown died Tuesday. Born in Oakesdale, he moved to Greenacres 8 years ago.

He worked as parts manager for Quincy Farm Truck and Implement from 1962 to 1976.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Brown; three sons, Dale Brown of Valleyford, Doug Brown of Rockford and Scott Brown of Greenacres; a daughter, Janet Hendrickson of Spokane; two stepsons, Steve Doerr of Moses Lake and Mark Doerr of Lynnwood, Wash.; a stepdaughter, Charlene Price of Ephrata, Wash.; 22 grandchildren and seven greatgrandchildren.

Betty Bafus Winona, Wash.

Service for Betty Jean Bafus, 74, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church followed by burial at the Endicott (Wash.) Cemetery. Bruning Funeral Home in Colfax, Wash., is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Bafus died Tuesday. She was born in Yakima and graduated from Colfax High School.

She and her husband farmed in the Colfax area for several years. She later returned to the family farm in Winona.

Mrs. Bafus was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and the Multi-Flora Garden Club.

Her husband, Harry H. Bafus, died in 1976. Survivors include a son, Roger Bafus of Endicott; a daughter, Marjorie Hardy of Everett; and two grandchildren.

Memorial gifts may be made to the Multi-Flora Garden Club in Endicott.

Leota Barr Mansfield, Wash.

Service for Leota “Lee” Barr, 86, is scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday at Hartline United Methodist Church followed by burial at the Almira Cemetery. Hazen & Jaeger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Barr died Saturday. Born in Hartline, she attended Bellingham Normal School.

She moved to Mansfield in 1973 and worked as a housekeeper for many years. She also worked for Jacob’s Bakery.

Survivors include a brother, David Barr of Spokane; a sister, Lorene Ryker of Mesa, Ariz.; and many nieces and nephews.

Memorial gifts may be made to the American Heart Association.

Clyde Anderson Elma, Wash.

Private family gathering is planned for Clyde Arthur Anderson, 80.

Mr. Anderson died Thursday. He was born in Saskatchewan, and was raised in Albee, S.D.

He moved to Spokane many years ago and worked as a sheet metal worker. He retired in 1981 and moved to Elma six months ago.

His wife, Bessie, died in 1993. Survivors include a son, Harlo Anderson of Elma; a daughter, Sylvia Brown of Hoquiam, Wash.; a brother, Milo Anderson of Watertown, S.D.; 13 grandchildren and 26 greatgrandchildren.

Evelyn Harrison Post Falls

Private memorial service will be held for Evelyn Jordan Harrison. Shoshone Funeral Service was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Harrison, 89, died Sunday. Born in New York City, she moved to Shoshone County many years ago.

Her husband, Robert E. Harrison, died in 1978. Survivors include two daughters, Betty Roffi of Sun City, Calif., and Florence Blackbird of Post Falls; a son, William Harrison of Schyler Falls, N.Y.; 11 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

Memorial gifts may be made to the Humane Society.

Arthur Ratliff Deer Park

Service for Arthur Davis Ratliff, 86, is planned for 1 p.m. today at the Open Door Congregational Church in Deer Park. Private burial will be at Fairmount Memorial Park. Lauer Funeral Home in Deer Park is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Ratliff, who died Monday, was born in Prairie Home, Mo.

He helped build many homes and businesses in the area including, the former Deer Park City Hall, TriCounty Hospital and Riverside High School.

He worked at Lakeland Village for several years, retiring in 1972.

Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Dorothy; two sons, Quentin Ratliff of Chattaroy and Truman Ratliff of Deer Park; and five grandchildren.
