Chisholm To Lecture

From Staff And Wire Reports

Former U.S. Rep. Shirley Chisholm, the first black woman elected to Congress, will visit Cheney this month.

She will speak on “Human and Civil Rights in a Conservative Era” on Feb. 15 at Eastern Washington University.

Chisholm was elected a U.S. representative from Brooklyn, N.Y., in 1968 and served for more than a decade. She made history again in 1972 by campaigning for the Democratic Party’s nomination for president of the United States.

She is the co-founder of the National Political Congress of Black Women and the author of two books.
