Garage Set On Fire

Fire inspectors suspect arson in a fire early Thursday that destroyed a garage and a car in the Spokane Valley.

No one was injured.

The fire at E10801 12th began about 12:15 a.m. Valley Fire inspector Eric Olson said someone broke a window, doused the garage with a flammable liquid, and lit it.

A 1991 Mercedes 190E, worth about $20,000, was destroyed, as were some tools, antique bikes and other items in the garage, Olson said.

No one was injured.

Homeowner Mary Ann Podd, 54, was at home when the fire began.

Inspectors said they have suspects and a motive, but refused to release that information.
