Ballplayer Offers Reward In 3 Murders
A professional football player answered police questions after the slayings of his ex-wife, their 3-year-old son and her fiance, then on Monday put up a $5,000 reward to help find the killer.
Bennie Thompson of the Cleveland Browns talked with police Sunday night after the bodies were found, Sgt. Marlon Defillo said. Police refused to discuss any leads or suspects in the case.
“The investigation is wide open,” Defillo said. “At this time, we’re not excluding anyone.”
A local television station, WWL, reported police are looking at drugs as a possible motive because the fiance, Andre White, allegedly had a drug record.
Thompson, a native of New Orleans who keeps a home there, offered the reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the killer.
The bodies of Tangie Thompson, 28, and son, Devyn, were found with White, 30, at their home. The coroner’s office said Monday the victims died from multiple gunshot wounds.
