22 Line Up To Replace Late Judge

From Staff And Wire Reports

Twenty-two Spokane County residents have applied to be District Court judge to replace the late Raymond Tanksley Jr.

Tanksley, a judge for nine years, died last month of esophagus cancer. County commissioners will appoint his successor, who then must run in the next general election to retain the job.

The deadline for applications was Feb. 2. County commissioners haven’t decided whether they will narrow the list of applicants or interview them all before making a choice.

The applicants include six people who lost their bids for District Court judge seats in the last election.

They are: Clark D. Colwell, Dennis J. Dressler, Salvatore J. Faggiano, Michael L. Loft, W. Scott Mason and Steve Tucker.

The other applicants are: Diane B. Blumel, Jack T. Brooke, C. Bradley Chinn, Harold D. Clark III, Richard B. Kayne, John T. Krall, Herbert Landis, Cynthia E. McMullen, Mary Ann Moreno, Fay H. “Bud” Oakes, Mike Padden, Jack R. Reeves, Michelle A. Solinsky, William J. Sorcinelli, Greg Sypolt and Gregory J. Tripp.

A District Court judge is paid more than $91,000 annually.
