Lake Sets Record, But Weber Wins

Associated Press

Jeremy Lake hit four 3-pointers Thursday night to set a Big Sky Conference career record, but it wasn’t enough as Montana fell to Weber State 57-54 in Missoula.

Lake has 171 career 3-pointers, breaking the record of 168 set by former Idaho standout Orlando Lightfoot.

Lightfoot, a forward, set the record in three seasons; Lake is in his fourth.

Montana (5-3 Big Sky, 14-7 overall) took just its second lead on two free throws by Shawn Samuelson with 39 seconds remaining.

But Weber regained the lead on a Jimmy DeGraffenried jump shot with 27 seconds left, and sealed it on two free throws by Ruben Nembhard with 17 seconds left to claim first place in the conference.

Neither team shot well, with Weber State hitting 41 percent of its shots and Montana hitting 36 percent.

Weber State (6-2, 13-7) was led by Kirk Smith with 16 points and 12 rebounds.
