Lake City Caps Season With A-1 Girls Crown

Shannon Riggs and Melissa Dodge scored 10 points each Saturday to lead Lake City to a 44-32 victory over Pocatello for the Idaho A-1 girls high school basketball championship.

Playing with much resolve, especially after three starters got into early foul trouble, Lake City handled Pocatello at Albertson College.

Lake City, including seven players from 1994 A-1 champion Coeur d’Alene, never trailed.

The state championship is the first in the new school’s brief existence. The Timberwolves, ranked No. 1 all season, finish with a 24-1 record.

Ann Radmall had seven assists and Amy Humble had 10 points for Pocatello.

In earlier action Saturday, Centennial handled Blackfoot 52-35 for third place, while Nampa earned the consolation title with a 39-34 win over Borah.

Shelley capped an undefeated season with a 55-48 win over Bonners Ferry in the A-2 girls title game.

Clearwater Valley beat Valley 61-47 for the A-3 title.

Craigmont whipped Shoshone 55-30 for the A-4 title.
