Andre Agassi’s march to the top of the tennis world took another strong turn when he dismantled MaliVai Washington 6-4, 6-2 in the semifinals of the San Jose Open. Agassi will meet No. 2 Michael Chang, a 4-6, 7-6 (7-5), 6-4 winner over No. 3 Jim Courier in today’s final. Saturday night’s Jim Courier-Michael Chang match in today’s final.

In Chicago, Lisa Raymond is a surprise finalist at the Ameritech Cup. So is her opponent.

Raymond pulled off her third upset, ousting No. 7 Zina Garrison Jackson 5-7, 6-4, 6-3 to move into the title match.

The former NCAA champion next will take on No. 3 Magdalena Maleeva today, who herself pulled off a surprise by eliminating No. 2 Gabriela Sabatini 6-4, 4-6, 6-3.
