Six Individual Titles Pace Nic To Wrestling Title

North Idaho College outpointed Clackamas Community College 96-70 to win the Region 18 wrestling championships Saturday.

Rick Moreno’s pin at 150 pounds led six Cardinal wrestlers who captured championships.

Moreno earned outstanding wrestler honors. He pinned Todd Eldredge of Ricks at 6:48.

Former Mead standout Travis Hughes defeated Dave Quimby of Big Bend 23-10 at 190 pounds to take first place.

Kirk Hartzell (118, 5-4 in overtime), Matt Paulson (a 3-1 win at 126), Chad Edgar (a 6-3 win at 134) and Scott Surplus (a 12-3 win at 177) also took titles for NIC.

Ray Roth fell 5-1 to Damon McTherson of Clackamas at 158 to finish second for the Cardinals.

Region 18 championships
