Wetland Enhancement Honored

Mike and Cindy Breidenbach were honored Saturday night for enhancing a wetland on their property near Spangle.

The Spokane Chapter of Safari Club International awarded the Breidenbachs $500 as the winners of the 1994 Wildlife Enhancement contest held at the Sheraton Hotel.

The program honors landowners who enhance and protect wildlife habitat at their own expense, without government compensation.

The couple fenced the wetland to protect it from cattle, allowing vegetation to prosper for the benefit of waterfowl and other wildlife, said Alan Knott, chapter spokesman.
