Bonnie Blair set a world record of 38.69 seconds in a 500-meter World Cup speedskating race.

Blair broke her world record of 38.99.

Canada’s Susan Auch, who was skating against Blair, also went under the previous record, clocking 38.94.

The head-to-head race was set up Saturday when Auch beat Blair by .3 seconds.

At Oslo, Norway, Andreas Goldberger of Austria won the large hill World Cup ski jumping competition at the Holmenkollen Nordic Ski Festival, clinching his second overall title.
