Flooding Reported In North Idaho

From Staff And Wire Reports

Heavy rains caused flooding and washed out roads in North Idaho on Sunday night.

A flash-flood warning was in effect in Shoshone and Kootenai counties.

The St. Joe and Cataldo rivers and the north fork of the Coeur d’Alene River rose dangerously high.

Water washed out Highway 41 and Seasons Road, flooded and caused mudslides on the Silver Beach loop near Coeur d’Alene Drive, and knocked boulders onto the Potlatch Hill roadway, said Terry Hoggatt, a Coeur d’Alene emergency dispatcher.

Rains also washed out Highway 95 at Mica Bay.

“We’re losing half the road,” Hoggatt said.

The Idaho Department of Transportation and several highway districts worked to clean up the roads.

Idaho State Police said there also was flooding on Interstate 90 near Northwest Boulevard.
