Three Earthquakes Cause No Damage

Compiled From Wire Services

Three earthquakes struck Southern California on Sunday, but there were no reports of damage or injuries, authorities said.

A 4.3-magnitude temblor struck at 1:24 p.m. and was centered in the Santa Monica Mountains about seven miles northwest of Malibu’s Point Dume, said seismologist Robby Robb with the California Institute of Technology in Pasadena. It was followed 1-1/2 hours later by a 3.7-magnitude aftershock.

Hours earlier, a 3.4-magnitude quake struck near the mountain resort of Big Bear Lake in the San Bernardino Mountains, about 100 miles east of Los Angeles.

The quakes followed a 6.6-magnitude temblor Saturday night in the Pacific Ocean that was felt throughout a large area of Northern California. It was centered about 80 miles west of Eureka and caused no damage or injuries.
