Tomba Bombs

Alberto Tomba, seemingly unbeatable in Europe, continued a decade of frustration in Japan today when he failed to finish a World Cup giant slalom, his second failure in 24 hours.

Tomba, who came to Japan with a chance to become the third man ever to win as many as 12 races in a season, goes back home with the 10 victories with which he arrived.
