Two Men Held After Separate Car Chases
Two Spokane men were arrested after separate car chases Saturday night.
Robert J. Mulvey, 71, of N7007 Wiscomb, faces charges of attempting to elude police and second-degree assault with a deadly weapon. He’s being held on a $15,000 bond.
A police car tried to stop Mulvey’s weaving car on Wellesley about 10:30 p.m., but he sped up and drove over the center line, police said.
The chase reached speeds of 55 mph in 30-mph areas. Mulvey ran stop signs and nearly hit a concrete divider and two oncoming cars, police said.
Mulvey hit a police car near the end of the chase, police said. He was stopped on Big Sandy Hill on state Highway 291.
In the other chase, Michael D. Wood, 34, of E2029 Pacific was arrested about 2:30 a.m. Sunday. He faces a charge of attempting to elude police. He’s being held on a $1,500 bond.
A police car tried to stop a pickup on Third Avenue, but the vehicle sped up to 75 mph before being stopped near Madelia.
