College women

Melissa Davies had 12 points and 14 rebounds Thursday to lead Community Colleges of Spokane to a 68-55 win over visiting Walla Walla CC in a Northwest Athletic Association of Community Colleges playoff game.

The Sasquatch (21-5), who already had a berth secured to the NWAACC Tournament, play at 7 p.m. Saturday at home for the No. 1 and 2 seeds. Their opponent will be Columbia Basin CC, which eliminated Yakima Valley CC on Thursday.

CCS defeated Columbia Basin earlier this week, after the teams had tied for the division title.

Shelly Johnson and Kelly Gaines also scored 12 apiece for CCS. Gaines made 6 of 6 free throws to lead the Sasquatch’s 20-of-29 effort.

CCS dominated the rebounds, 39-25.

The Warriors (13-12) never seriously challenged CCS, but Sasquatch coach Bruce Johnson switched to matchup zone to confront Leslie Oliver. Oliver, who scored 30 on 10-of-18 shooting from the field, did most of her damage in the first half.

Weber St. 71, Eastern 55

Rachelle Gardner scored 24 as Weber State (4-8, 14-10) defeated Eastern Washington University in a Big Sky Conference game at Ogden, Utah.

The Eagles (5-6, 9-14) are fighting for fourth place and the final berth to the league tournament. EWU plays NAU on Saturday.

Lori Napier had 16 points and nine rebounds for EWU.

Gardner and Valerie Sorenson scored four points apiece to lead Weber’s 15-6 run in the first half. The run gave the Wildcats a 30-20 lead that EWU couldn’t dent.

Gardner also had three 3-pointers and 11 points during the first 6:21 of the second half, culminating in an 18-point lead.

NAU 71, Idaho 66

A 5-0 run in the final 3 minutes allowed Northern Arizona University to defeat University of Idaho in a Big Sky game at Flagstaff, Ariz.

Idaho had two chances to take the lead before the NAU run, but failed on both.

The Vandals (3-8, 5-18) must win their final three conference games to have a shot at the postseason. They also need help from other teams.

Amy Yanish scored 15 and Karli Rikli 13 for the victorious Lumberjacks (5-7, 13-11). Minday Rice had 24 points and 17 rebounds, and Kelli Johnson and Kerri Wykes 12 points apiece for Idaho.

San Francisco 93, Gonzaga 77

Brittany Lindhe led seven players in double figures with 17 points as the University of San Francisco defeated visiting Gonzaga University for its West Coast Conference-record 12 consecutive win.

Lindhe, Andrea Kagie and Valerie Gillon had nine rebounds apiece for the Dons (12-1, 20-4), who also won their team-record 14th consecutive home game. San Francisco and the University of Portland, tied for the WCC lead, play Saturday. The winner earns the No. 1 seed to next week’s WCC tournament at Santa Clara, Calif.

Lindhe added a team-high six assists and four steals.

Sarah Christensen had 20 points and six rebounds, and Amy Jo Silva added 13 points and six rebounds for the Bulldogs (4-9, 9-15).
