Compiled From Wire Services

A moderate earthquake shook Cyprus and parts of Israel on Thursday, killing two Cypriots and causing minor damage in the western part of the island, authorities said.

The government’s chief seismologist, Kyriacos Solomis, said the earthquake had a preliminary magnitude of 5.2.

An elderly couple died when part of their home collapsed.

The quake also was felt in northern and central Israel. There were no immediate reports of injuries or damage there.
