Chiefs Rally To Overcome Blazers In Ot
Joe Cardarelli’s second goal of the night, with 1 minute, 5 seconds left in overtime, produced a stunning 8-7 come-from-behind Western Hockey League win for the Spokane Chiefs over Kamloops Friday night.
Spokane, home against the Blazers tonight at 7, trailed 6-0 after the first period. Jason Podollan scored three straight goals for the Chiefs within 4:33 of the first 7 minutes of the second period to start the comeback.
The second hat trick for Podollan and the Chief ran his goal total to 41.
Scores by Sean Gillam, Cardarelli and Jeremy Stasiuk tied the game at 6 after two periods, and Darren Sinclair’s goal 2:58 into the third tied it at 7 and forced the extra period.
David Lemanowicz’ goaltending gave the Chiefs a chance to win for the 16th time in their last 20 games. He turned back 60 shots as the Chiefs were outshot 67-39, 23-8 in the third period and 12-3 in overtime.
