Letters To The Editor
Greenacres shouldn’t be torn in half
This letter is not intended to provoke a barrage of letters from the incorporation people. We are all entitled to our opinions.
I have lived in Spokane County for nearly 25 years. I am not an activist, although I do follow government and politics. I have a degree in government that helps me understand the process.
For the past 16 years I have lived in Greenacres. I like Greenacres. It is a quiet, mostly rural area with large parcels of land and animals.
Hopefully, other citizens of Greenacres have taken a close look at the boundaries for the proposed city. If they have, they will see that Greenacres has been torn in half.
Depending on which side of the street you are on often determines whether you are in or out. For instance, the Greenacres post office would be in what is left of Greenacres, yet those west and north of it would be in the new city.
It is clear why the boundaries were drawn as they were - to avoid rejection. Still, it does not seem right to rip apart a community. Those excluded will not get to vote on what happens to Greenacres.
Perhaps I am not the only one who cares about what happens to Greenacres. Even if you know little about Greenacres, where it begins or ends or even where it is, ask yourself if it is not a bit selfish to destroy a community. Janeen Thompson Greenacres
Old Country Buffet gift very thoughtful
I am writing in regard to the Valentine’s Day gift the Old Country Buffet gave couples married 50 years or more.
They took pictures and gave them to each couple. The meal served was delicious and enough variety to please everyone. It was a most gracious, thoughtful and considerate gift for senior citizens.
My husband and I will have been married 56 years on June 3. We enjoyed this Valentine gift more than we can ever express.
So a big, big thank you to such a nice establishment that thought of “old people” for a change. Mrs. George E. Davis Spokane
