Nfl Golf Destined For Cda
A two-day sports celebrity golf tournament is planned this summer to raise $200,000 for a minority-athlete scholarship at Washington State.
The NFL Quarterback Classic, scheduled for June 30-July 1 at The Coeur d’Alene Resort course in Idaho, will be co-hosted by four former Washington State quarterbacks: Drew Bledsoe, Timm Rosenbach, Mark Rypien and Jack Thompson.
Three dozen current and former NFL quarterbacks are expected to play in the first day’s challenge, along with representatives of 12 major sponsors. On the second day, each quarterback and four guests will play in a scramble arrangement.
The 6,309-yard, par-71 golf course is known for its floating green in Lake Coeur d’Alene.
Pro Steve Connor has announced that Downriver will be open today. Weather permitting, all permanent greens will be used. For tee times, call 327-5269.
Baseball: The Seattle Mariners have gone to a “split squad” to air their games over radio in Spokane for the 1995 season.
KXLY Newstalk 920 and KTRW The Score 970 are teaming up to carry the entire 1995 Mariners schedule - whether it’s played by the real M’s or replacements.
Under the agreement, KTRW will carry up to 50 Mariners games and select exhibition games. KXLY will air the remaining regular-season games.
The partnership was formed to alleviate programming conflicts on KXLY, which also carries Seattle SuperSonics, Seattle Seahawks and Washington State events.
