Gsl Learns Seedings To Regional Tourney

When the dust settled Saturday night at the conclusion of the Big Nine tournament, the seedings didn’t quite come out as expected for the Lamb-Weston Eastern Regional AAA Basketball Tournament against the Greater Spokane League.

The Mead boys (17-5), topseeded out of the GSL, face Eisenhower (13-9) at Eastern Washington University at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday. The first game pits Lewis and Clark (15-7), the second seed out of the GSL, against Pasco (13-9) at 6 p.m.

The other two GSL teams, third-seeded Rogers and No. 4 Central Valley, are on the road. Rogers (11-9), on the same side of the bracket as Mead, will face Richland (20-3) at Pasco at 7:30 p.m. CV (11-12) goes to Richland to face Kamiakin (18-4) at 7:30 p.m.

Shadle Park and Ferris, the top two GSL seeds on the girls side, are at Gonzaga University on Tuesday. No. 1 Shadle Park (19-3), faces Walla Walla (16-6) at 7:30 and Ferris (18-5) meets Pasco (13-9) at 6 p.m.

The GSL road teams are Mead and Central Valley. Third-seeded Mead (20-2) is at Wenatchee Valley College to play Wenatchee (11-10) at 7:30 p.m. CV (11-12) faces Kamiakin (19-3) at 6 p.m. at Richland.

The remaining games of the regional are in the Tri-Cities. Friday’s boys games are at Richland and the girls at Pasco.

Because only three teams advance to state for the boys and girls, there will be an extra round of games late Saturday night after the championship game. The girls finale is at 4 p.m. and the boys end at 6 p.m., followed by the thirdplace games, girls at 8 and the boys at 9:30, all at Richland.

The state tournament is March 8-11 at the Kingdome in Seattle.
