Speeding Car Breaks Through Rail, Killing One In River Plunge
A 24-year-old man who apparently had been racing with friends died Saturday when the vehicle crashed through a guard rail and into a reservoir at Lower Granite Dam, authorities said.
Divers later recovered the man’s body and the car. He was the only one in the car at the time of the crash, said Whitman County Sheriff Steve Thomson.
The man had borrowed the car from an acquaintance and had apparently been racing with friends who also had been driving along the Snake River, Thomson said.Authorities were withholding the man’s name until relatives could be contacted.
