Trees Need Care

From Staff And Wire Reports

Live Christmas trees need special care in the transition from the living room to their new outdoor location.

A live tree can freeze if placed outside in freezing temperatures after spending weeks in a warm house, said Judy Smith, spokeswoman for the Idaho Panhandle National Forests.

Once a tree has been stimulated to circulate water through its system in winter, it should be watered, fertilized and kept indoors all winter to prevent winter damage that could kill it, she said.
