Two Die In Head-On Crash On Interstate 90 In Valley
Two women died Saturday in a head-on collision on icy Interstate 90, the Washington State Patrol said.
Alice K. McGuinness, 51, of Coeur d’Alene, and Heather Grooms, 22, W3611 Heroy, both suffered massive head and chest injuries.
Grooms was pronounced dead at the scene; McGuinness was taken to Valley Hospital and Medical Center, where she died at 8:34 p.m.
WSP troopers said McGuinness was driving her Buick east on I-90 near the Pines exit shortly before 8 p.m. when she lost control and slid into the median.
Her car continued into the westbound lane, where it hit Grooms’ Chevrolet Camaro head-on, troopers said. Grooms’ husband, Galen Grooms, 24, was a passenger in the car and was treated for minor injuries and released from Sacred Heart Medical Center.
All three were wearing seat belts, troopers said.
