Dinner Theater Will Aid Rogers, Cops Northeast In/Around: Hillyard
Rogers High School and COPS Northeast are teaming up to stage a dinner theater production later this month.
The school’s drama club is putting on Neil Simon’s “The Plaza Suite” Jan. 18-21.
COPS Northeast fund-raising chairman Del Irish came up with the idea of a dinner theater several months ago and was looking for an opportunity.
“I think it will be a nice event to get the general population into our schools,” he said. “And it will be lots of fun for the community.”
COPS Northeast is contracting with Pasta Pastry Etc. to provide the meal each night.
On Jan. 18, a simple dessert will be served between acts. The tickets are $5 each, or $4 for students and senior citizens.
The Rogers Drama Club will receive all the profits from that night’s performance.
On Jan. 19-21, a dinner will be served before each show. Volunteers will do the serving.
Each night will feature the Rogers Chamber Choir and a different local speaker for entertainment during the dinner.
The speakers will include Mayor Jack Geraghty, Jan. 19; Police Chief Terry Mangan, Jan. 20; and District 81 Assistant Superintendent Larry Parsons, Jan. 21.
Tickets are $15 each, or $10 for senior citizens and students.
After dinner is served on linen and china in the school cafeteria, ticketholders will be ushered to their seats for the performance.
Anyone not interested in the dinner can buy $5 tickets at the door for side-aisle seats.
COPS Northeast will receive 60 percent of the proceeds for the dinner nights. Rogers will get 40 percent.
The school plans to use the money to fund a trip to the Shakespeare Festival in Oregon this summer.
COPS Northeast will put its profits into the general fund to be spent on various public safety programs in Hillyard this year.
Tickets can be purchased at COPS Northeast, N5208 Market, or at the Rogers High School business office.
