Transfer Station Closed After Spill

From Staff Reports

The Valley Transfer Station closed Thursday morning after what authorities feared was a hazardous material spill.

Hazardous material crews were called about 10:15 a.m. after material that was being dumped into a transfer station pit spilled, said a Valley Fire District dispatcher. One worker who complained of nausea was treated at a hospital after the spill.

The dispatcher was uncertain what the substance was, and also didn’t know if the transfer station would reopen today.
