Warehouse Fire Arson, Paper Says

Associated Press

A massive warehouse fire that killed four Seattle firefighters was deliberately set in the building’s basement, the Seattle Post-Intelligencer reported Thursday.

Signs of arson include peculiar burn patterns and the more thorough destruction of debris found near the fire’s point of origin, sources told the newspaper.

Investigators publicly have only described the Jan. 5 fire as “suspicious.”

“We will not release any information with regard to the cause or origin until we are absolutely finished, a spokesman for the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, said Thursday.
