At Rockford, Travis Goldsmith scored 23 points and hit two of his four 3-pointers to start the fourth quarter as the Scotties (6-2, 8-4) toppled the Cardinals (5-2, 8-2), the state’s top-ranked team.

Freeman shot 53 percent from the floor and held Medical Lake to 3-of-10 shooting in the final quarter. Goldsmith added seven rebounds and five steals. Randy Moffatt scored 22 and Joe Deutsch 20 for the Cardinals, who have two hobbled starters.

Fourth-ranked NWC led by one with 5 minutes left. The Crusaders’ Jason Iverson attempted a 3-pointer at the buzzer that bounced off the rim.
