Thank Your Fave Teacher With An Essay

Well, here’s a chance to thank them and win a $250 U.S. Savings Bond in the process. The Washington Education Association is sponsoring its second annual student essay contest, “A Teacher To Remember.”

One winner will be selected from grades 1-4, 5-8 and 9-12 from essays written about a special teacher who has made a positive influence. The teacher does not need to be a current teacher.

For grades 1-4, essays may not exceed 150 words; for grades 5-8, 250 words; and for grades 9-12, 500 words. All entries must be received by 4:30 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 17, accompanied by a completed entry form.

The winners will be notified in the spring and the teachers honored will receive a special plaque. To receive an entry form, write to National Teacher Day Essay Contest, c/o Washington Education Association, 33434 Eighth Ave. S., Federal Way, WA 98003-6397.

Art works: Do you constantly find yourself doodling? Scrawling on your notebook? Maybe it’s time to get out that artistic edge and take one of the Spokane Art School classes, now offered in the Spokane Valley. Sculpture, drawing, and other art forms will be taught by experienced members of the Spokane Art School faculty.
