Saddam Executes 20 In Assassination Plot

Twenty Iraqi air force and army officers were reported executed by firing squad Jan. 7 for plotting to assassinate Saddam Hussein, his family and top lieutenants.

Iran’s official Islamic Republic New Agency, monitored in Nicosia, said earlier this month that a plot to kill Saddam and his eldest son, Odai, had been foiled.Saddam’s intelligence agents uncovered the plot and arrested several conspirators near the resort, sources said.
