Lewis Hires Steward

Compiled From Wire Services

Lennox Lewis is relying on the man who plotted his downfall to help him get back to the top in boxing.

The British fighter said he had signed trainer Emanuel Steward, who was in Oliver McCall’s corner when the American knocked out Lewis to gain the WBC heavyweight title Sept. 24.

Steward, whose Detroit gym has produced champions from Tommy Hearns to Evander Holyfield, said he was ending his association with McCall for a multi-year deal that will also give him a percentage of Lewis’ management.
