Man Pleads Guilty To Robbery

From Staff And Wire Reports

A Spokane man with a long record of burglaries faces 14 years in prison for robbing a West Francis espresso stand.

Clinton Nagel, 32, pleaded guilty to first-degree robbery Tuesday in Superior Court.

Wielding a shotgun, Nagel drove his pickup up to On The Go Espresso the night of Nov. 16 and demanded cash, authorities said.

Nagel and his accomplice, 19-year-old James Suggs, were arrested later that night.

Suggs pleaded guilty Tuesday to rendering criminal assistance and is unlikely to see any more jail time.

But Deputy Prosecutor Steve Tucker said Nagel has agreed to a recommended 14-year prison term when he is sentenced in about a month.

The defendant has prior convictions for car theft and 11 burglaries between 1983 and 1990, Tucker said.
