Two Climbers Hurt In Mount Rainier Fall

Associated Press

An injured climber was evacuated from Mount Rainier Sunday after he and his son fell 20 feet down a crevasse.

Jang Lee, 45, and his son, Soo Lee, members of a 7-person climbing party, were climbing at about 12,700 feet when strong winds blew them off balance. They fell into the crevasse and landed on an ice shelf, according to the National Park Service.

Jang Lee was evacuated by a Fort Lewis helicopter and was reported in good condition at Madigan Army Medical Center late Sunday, a hospital spokesman said. Soo Lee walked out and was not badly hurt.
