At Twin Falls, Idaho, Hobo Boothe of Canoga Park, Calif., rolled his second 289 game of the tournament and earned the top seed in the $55,000 Twins Falls PBA Open. Jim Frazier of Spokane finished seventh overall with 9,723 pins and cashed $1,650.

At Bogota, Colombia, Juan Jose Bellini, head of Colombia’s soccer federation and long accused of links to drug traffickers, resigned Thursday. Bellini’s resignation came as a top prosecutor said he was considering an investigation of the soccer president’s ties to the Cali drug cartel.

The latest evidence came Tuesday when police arrested Jose Santacruz Londono, considered No. 3 in the hierarchy of the cartel, which supplies 80 percent of the world’s cocaine.

Authorities found Bellini’s name and telephone number in the directory of a pocket computer confiscated from Santacruz.

At Nagoya, Japan, American champion Musashimaru was beaten and dropped out of a tie for the lead in the Nagoya Grand Sumo Tournament, leaving grand champion Takanohana alone in first place… .
