Suspect In Killing Remains In Jail

From Staff And Wire Reports

A 69-year-old man on Thursday remained in jail on $250,000 bail following his arrest in connection with a late May murder in east central Spokane.

Robert Bell, of 1511 E. Second, has been charged with premeditated first-degree murder in the shooting death of Ollie Williams.

Bell was arrested and booked into the Spokane County Jail on Wednesday.

Showing little emotion, Bell appeared before Judge Pro-Tem Howard Delaney Thursday afternoon. Delaney ordered Bell - who’s muscular body stood a head taller than most of the other inmates - held on bail and appointed him a public defender.

Williams, 45, 1909 E. Vanetta, was found shot to death in front of Bell’s east Spokane home just before 11 p.m. on May 27.
