Buckenberger Leads Pro-Am

Randy Buckenberger shot a 66 to win the Washington Trust Bank Pro-Am golf tournament Monday by a stroke over Mark Rohde and Matt Bunn at Stoneridge Country Club.

Buckenberger, the head professional at Twin Lakes Village, shot 33s on both the front and back sides for a 6-under-par 72. Rohde and Bunn had identical 35-32-67s.

Tony Cuchessi of Hidden Lakes (35-35-70), Steve Prugh of Manito (36-35-71) and amateur Jason Allen of Painted Hills were the only other players in the field of 52 professionals and 206 amateurs to beat par.

Allen’s 71 beat the 35-38-73 of The Fairways’ Todd Pence in the amateur gross division.

Mike Elmore Jr., assistant pro at the Coeur d’Alene Golf Course, turned in the shot of the day. He hit a 7 iron 158 yards for a hole-in-one.

Gordy Aden, Doug Kenley and Jim Dahmer were the handicap net division winners, while Ken Gustafson captured the amateur senior gross division.
